Is it possible the formation of [2M+46]* or [2M+46]- in negative ESI?
It is not [M+HCOOH-H]-, as it would correspond to [M+45]-.
Have you ever observed it in your LC-MS experience?
What is the responsible ion/s of this adduct?

46 is suspiciously twice 23, which normally would be ascribed to sodium. Could you have some weird sodium bound dimer that has a particular selectivity for being bridged by a couple of sodium atoms?
I have attached the spectra of the monitored adduct (above) and the simulation of [2M+Na-H]-. There is a difference, as you can observe.
Ah yes, looking at your molecule I can see why sodium adducts would be an unlikely explanation! Well, there goes the simple explanation I guess!
Looking at the distribution, maybe something like ethanol fits (again not sure if it is possible). Sorry I cannot be more help!
Thank you again Steven, there is a lot of difference also with ethanol...it is interesting that it seems that the strange adduct dimer is very similar to [2M+HCOOH]*. I am stumped...

I was wrong with the calculation of hydrogens. I also observe the [M+HCOO]- adduct. Thank you very much for your help
