I had a discussion with a researcher in an conference who did not have sharp peak but was dome shaped, she justified the reason for the dome shaped nature because the nano particles were well dispersed.
I felt, however a sample is well dispersed in a solution, the samples lamba max remains the same. if its around 420nm.. it can be from + or - 20nm values, and should have a sharp peak.
Can anyone help?
Polydisperse samples give broad spectra whereas monodisperse samples have sharp features in their spectra.

I dont now what she meant by that.. she was justifying her data stating this. Her nanoparticles were green synthesized using silvernitrate and aqueous algal extracts..
I dont have any knowledge abt this.. any clarifications would be helpful.

It could mean one of this.
1. Nanoparticle sample size distribution is either monodisperse or polydisperse
2. Nanoparticles do not exist in the form of aggregates or agglomerates.
For nanoparticles, size, shape and dispersity (mono/poly) are important parameters. Lamda max of large sized nanoparticles is greater than that of small sized nanoparticles for the same shape.
But if the shape changes and dispersity (mono/poly) also changes then things get complicated.

In what kind of environment you are synthesized AgNO3? What was the reaction? Maybe you have synthesized nanoparticles of Ag?

AgNO3 is a salt and is water soluble. You can't have AgNO3 nanoparticles there.
Plant extracts contain reducing agents (e.g Glucose) which reduce Ag+ ions to form Ag atoms which come together to form silver nanoparticles.
