R is absolutely great, but it does take a bit of effort to get started. Afterwards you are on a steep learning curve and really only the sky is the limit. There are countless packages that you can choose from including brilliant graphics functions, a very helpful online community and some very good MOOCs to teach you. 

What I like most is that it is not "just" a statistics package but a programming language. I have been using it a lot to prepare my data, pre-sort, point out data sets that have been entered with errors by collaborators and even for my own revalidation to link ICD codes with diagnoses.

And don't forget, it is completely free.

All of them are great, now l use R because lt is more flexible, and l feel confident, but which makes you feel superpowerful to meet your own needs?
