I recently stained for CB1R in brain slices from mice. The results showed clear expression in the shape of cells throughout the dorsal thalamus. I had stained for CB1R before, but had found very non-specific expression all over the brain, never in the shape of an outline of cells. This most recent staining, I changed my methods to not allow the antibody to penetrate the cells. I am concerned with the validity of what I am seeing when there is no expression seen from Allen Brain Atlas (mRNA expression) aside from one nucleus of the thalamus. There are no published papers stating that there is widespread CB1R expression throughout the thalamus.

Has anyone seen this or can speculate why I am seeing what I am seeing?

Thank you.
