COVID 19 pandemic has shaken the roots of World in all aspects. Infections, Deaths, inability to create facilities, stress upon front-line workers, restrictions and unusual adaptation in life-style, lockdowns and economic down-turn, loss of job and income, unemployment, limited establishments, insecurity and so on.. Luckily, now vaccines are rolling all over the world. Since the viral strain is continuously mutating and increasing its virulency, I need to know what impact does the vaccine administration will have upon the virus. Will it become more virulent or benign in the coming days?
Despite the administration of potent COVID 19 Vaccines, other measures of preventing the spread must not be discarded.
Yes Dr. Oluyomi Ayodele, I agree with your recommended measure. The awareness on preventive & protective measures has reached people through many initiatives, but still there is lack of practice among people in day-to-day life risking themselves.

Annual administration of booster on global scale for pandemic requires enormous production. This scenario suits for attenuated vaccines. What would be the case for mRNA vaccines? If the viral strain loses its virulence, then is it necessary to take booster doses?
This virus is extremely transmissible but relatively rarely causes disease except in the elderly. When the majority of the world is vaccinated the generation of variants will be less. Upgraded vaccines will be required eg every year. The appropriate strains to include will depend on the advise from eg WHO and other expert laboratories that are monitoring this agent. It is imost likely that we can not eradicate this virus but can maintain it at a relatively low level.

Your reply and the attachments stress to get vaccinated in order to protect ourselves and eradicate the virus gradually. Vaccines effect on the emerging corona mutant needs to be studied and i think that it will prevent us from death even we are infected and develop symptoms.

The prediction upon viral mutation and production of engineered vaccine (mRNA/ spike protein) in such a way when administered our immune system should respond and generate antibodies of any variant of Corona virus. If there is a possibility then i think periodic booster doses are not required.
Updating of COVID-19 vaccines should be associated with the new mutant strains of the virus.
Mutations and virulence of SARS-CoV-2 are very important subjects. These subjects are under research and still not completely clear. We hope that the mutations of the virus do not produce completely antigenic different strains.

Yes! The viral mutations, its virulence and the mechanism of host immune response are the essential subjects to be studied because we are still not able to eradicate SARS-CoV-2. Antigenic drifts have occurred in corona virus and now the mutant strains with modifications in spike protein and mechanism for evading host immune response is more virulent and highly transmissible. Hope that the scientific community, medicinal experts, government and public together will combat the ill-effects with stronger solution soon.

Being the highly populous country and facing the adverse effects of Corona second wave, our younger population (aged 18-45) are yet to receive vaccination. Though vaccination for older people had been opened two months earlier, I observe hesitant and fear admits them in receiving vaccines. The rumours about the side-effects of vaccines reach public very well than the benefits of vaccination in spite of Government taking steps for creating awareness on vaccination.
Mass vaccination, covid appropriate safety measures, vaccine booster/newer vaccines in coming times, and continuous research and monitoring of efficacy of vaccines/new mutants can help us tackle the mutants. The virus has already shown more infective mutants, so there is no reason why it cant show again in subsequent times.

We will continue to see more variants/strains of this virus as I’ve goes on. With such a large susceptable population throughout he world there is ample possible for the virus to change.There is every likelihood that as the use of vaccines become more more widespread that vaccine escape mutants will be selected and emerge.Also this new to human virus is still adapting to its new host as it evolves with more transmissible viriants .Hopefully in years to come an equilibrium with the human host will occur (including updated vacines), and the virus will become of less concern.

I totally agree with you. I never imagined such a condition when I asked this question. Earlier i hoped that virus will be eliminated by vaccination. But as days pass, the mutants are emerging dreadfully even before mass vaccination gets completed globally by evading our immune response and providing breakthrough for vaccines.
