I have cultured EPC from blood PBMCs. After growing out and achieving the cobblestone morphology/ positive test for VWF, another cell type is out-growing my ECs (In white). Can you tell me what this is?
FYO- cells are cultured in promocell endothelial media (2% FBS).

Many thanks for your answer. So from your experience, is this a problem that occurs intermittently rather than all the time? I'm a little confused over the origins of these contaminating cells; Is one to assume that they are derived from their own progenitor equivalents such as fibrocytes? All so ,rather odd that everyone seems to report that they do not 'show up' until a passage or two rather than from the onset.
