It's a very good question. Me it seems that researchers make their outstanding work in all areas. Certainly we share our work, our experiences, we are also discussing on various areas of economic and social policy. Does this mean that we are listened to? If researchers around the world can be organized in association in order to carry high their voice to be listened to, not only in our countries but in the world. Organize ourselves and find a mechanism that fits us best to enforce our opinions. Let the brains for a new order

The first virtue of a scientific culture is to value the works of other scientists and this can be done through reading works, endorsements, participating in answering questions and generating ideas that are relevant to the questions, producing questions and reading answers that are rich in ideas and wider in scopes, to mention the few.
I do believe questions we raise and discuss and ideas we forward are quite relevant to science and society that policy makers and politicians should utilize them to make policies and reasonable decisions.
First, the community of scientists combined the ideas of creation, not destruction. Second, the community "RG" gathered experts of different professions and knowledge. Third, scientists are trying to help each person who has a problem (as opposed to the ethics of "RG" how often in everyday life ego prevents people help another person in need. Most often, it is peculiar to politicians). Ultimately, solidarity and creativity scientists always ends with the creation of new knowledge and products. So it will be!
In RG, we respect the work of the individual, whom we don't know. So if you come to one's endorsement, it ultimately respect the right scientific work of that individual and it also motivates that person, for the further thinking process of the subject.
RG has given us a common platform to share our research ,ideas and innovative methodologies. By endorsing the research,we are respecting the work of individual and encouraging ones research.
To me, it's a kind of hello, support, admiration, thanks, joy to meet a new thought "outside-the-box,a new experience, a new side of one or another problem. Behind every answer, question, thread, research there is a hard intellectual work, a unique world of a human being.Sometimes, a thread reminds me a Mayevtica (Socratic Dialogue) or Synectics. It motivates to reflect, learn more, seek, receive and share information. It's a cross-cultural environment,"growing and feeding a personality"P.A.Florensky.I believe, that "culture is an incarnation of chaos"A.Bely.and RG is a brilliant prefiguration of the future planetary community. Dear Dr.Abhijit Mitra, I believe, your wisdom will come true.
With respect to "RG". There is a right of everyone to be a participant. What is the motive for participation? For some, this question should be an analog of the question of why in the morning have to wash your face and brush your teeth. But some (perhaps many) do not. Important in "RG"! No one calls concern to the community as a trespass or a mandatory procedure. "RG" - is like love, like "Vanessa's club." If an internal motivation to participate in the discussion, help another person council to express an unusual opinion - please, there is the Internet intellectual community "RG".
If a young researcher is endorsed by a senior professor, it will definitely be a confidence booster for him. It is like his guide call him, pat on his shoulder and say you did a good job.
The RG senior scientists who can spend his precious time looking through young researcher’ work and endorsing them are real scientists in the world.I respect you!
I agree. The only thing we can add is being active. RG score also means being an active member in different aspects: questions, answers and publications.
There is a community in which correctly and professionally addressing various aspects of science, culture, education, and sometimes social issues. All discussions united by a common purpose of a professional solution of topical issues.
Yes, I agree with your view that RG endorsement means respecting other's knowledge and experience. The process of endorsement increase the quantum of discussion at the one hand as the respondent (to which endorsement made) satisfies with his knowledge and experience. At the second hand viewers also understand how one/more are thinking on the topic.
However I do not believe as your explanation of the question. I do not think that one day scientific community will shake the world. As I know from experience that administrators in the community do not support scientific community sometimes. In some developing countries, knowledge is not respected from the top level managers (e.g ministers) as IMPORTED KNOWLEDGE are solution to many problems of them.
Innovators succeed if society/community support him/her properly. A strong social structure is essential for support of scientific people.
This is my view. Some people may consider it negative - however negative points should also be respected.
See my post on another thread: https://www.researchgate.net/post/What_do_you_think_about_the_new_endorsement_system#view=5815bd2a5b4952312424ec5c
I am not so sure endorsement in RG means respect for each other's science, subject, topics and personality, but it is definitely meant as an expression of good will. I don't think it is a representative measure, as most of our endorsers will have had no knowledge or interaction with us outside the RG platform. As with most social-media tools: endorsements, upvotes, likes etc. help engage us in the community (to a limited degree), but alone, they do not offer enough credible evidence for outsiders to pay particular attention to skills we profess to have.
So for me, whilst respect builds community, & communities can change the world .... I don't think that RG endorsements will have any part to play in it ;-(
"It is quite interesting the way skills & endorsements work. I felt I had to pick some skills & 'expertise' when I set up my profile in case people thought I had none! It was really the first time I had given them titles, & I thought that people normally look through your CV/profile & deduce them for themselves. I am not much of an overt trumpet-blower ;-)
All of a sudden, people started to 'suggest' new skills. I felt that if I didn't add them to the list, then either I was saying I didn't have them, or that I was somehow rejecting someone's good intentions. Now, I have 53 skills with 7-29 endorsements each ....
As I do not personally know many of the 'endorsers', I just take them as expressions of good will. Some of my previous clinical skills are rightly ranked lower than my more current expertise, but I would not like to think that anyone took these as any form of realistic measure of ability - I am sure we have much better metrics.
I have occasionally endorsed someone for a skill/expertise I know they have (e.g. I have worked with them, read their work etc.). I am not sure there is any gain involved though, if people are as 'skeptical' as I am."
The new endorsement system that has been recently introduced by RG, has prevented massive endorsements. If you want to endorse someone for more than 3 skills, you need more time in order to verify such skills and endorse it.
Endorsement in RG means respect for each other's science, subject, topics and personality - Do you agree?
Agreed. Think RG endorsements also enable other novice / researchers know who are the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to turn to for assistance / advice based on the endorsements the SME received. The endorsements given to a SME might include his / her research collaboration / interaction with other RG researchers as well as the artifacts, answers, questions etc. shared.
