Attitude can be positive or negative. Your question did not specify the type you meant. Because attitude is manifested in behaviour, negative attitudes should be changed. They are detrimental to you and others.
Don't worry if you have a hard time changing your attitude. This is a long-term process, and won't be different immediately. Be patient with yourself as you change.
I offer you a beautiful painting by Poussin, called "A dance to the Music of Time" (Even the Seasons and the Weather changes with times...Why shouldn't we? We must adapt.)
Attitude change occurrs when people were motivated to undo the unpleasant state that was caused by the inconsistency between their attitude and their recent behavior.
To reduce the experience of dissonance, participants came to like the chosen object more, formed a more positive attitude toward a boring task, and saw a dull group as more interesting - http://faculty.chicagobooth.edu/jane.risen/research/Choice_Compass_2010%20copy.pdf
Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation. Brian Tracy
Attitudes need to change depending on the situation and the previous attitudes taken to dealing with it. Examples of this is the victorian attitude or stance to children being seen and not heard now our attitude is to give children a voice. Other attitudes have changed such our attitude to unwed mother who in the late 50 ,s and 60' s were put into institution mental asylums and locked away. However changing our attitude does' by mean losing our moral values but being more understanding. This was one reason social care practice in Ireland had to change and become a registered profession if you lol at the Kennedy Report on Industrial Schools in Ireland. The Magdalene Laundries and Goldenbridge. These are examples of why attitudes must and did change. Those women had babies who were adopted with out consent look up the Irish film Philomena and when you read and look at these you will understand the value of attitude change. However change in attitude must be followed by remedial and corrective actions.
Negative thoughts cultivate negative actions. If you decide to have a positive attitude throughout life you’ll cultivate positive changes time to time.

I also agree somehow with George. As a general rule, we must be always open to changes and promote and perform continuously positive changes. With respect to attitude, it depends of the attitude. If the attitude is always positive with direction to the righteousness, humbleness, verticality and goodness, as should always be, then is not necessary to change.
Inspite of " If the attitude is always positive with direction to the righteousness, humbleness, verticality and goodness, as should always be, then is not necessary to change" ....i really think that we have always to improve ourselves, to get better, but could be in the same direction...but always trying to be better...
Helena,if by attitude you mean the posture of a person showing a mental state, emotion, or mood, of course it will change with the emotional state of the person. However, the attitude of fanatics towards people they believe are inferior to them may be slow, difficult or virtually impossible to change. For example, the attitude of the German SS towards Jewish people, or ISIL towards Christians.
Interesting, because you speak about two aspects of attitudes, but i think that both include changes. Do'n't you think so? We all are dinamic persons and act in a dinamic world which changes in a similar but never in a equal way, because nothing is precilsely equal...nor situations, nor persons.
I would love that time make me stronger and a better person, to understand the ignorance in a calm way and never loose control, because sometimes it seems that we are caught in a spider's web and it is very difficult to get out of it ..
Is it really necessary to change our attitude with time?
Think we need to change our attitudes (way of thinking & feeling e.g. confidence, resiliency, optimism, pessimism, polite, rude, happy, sad etc) accordingly not only along with time but also according to different situations we are in. We need to be self-aware what attitudes we are adopting & proactively adjust our attitudes so that we can better carry ourselves / adapt to different environments.
Many times we maintain old patterns of thinking only security gives us follow that pattern. We can be really destructive, painful and believe us much unhappiness attitudes but we still have because we are very comfortable with them.
When we learn to change and to break these old patterns, we suddenly have new feelings, thoughts, behaviors. we will not see the same way people around us, the past, the future, at present ... Our brain will alert and we will create a very high insecurity fear of change and what is not known.
Faced with this dilemma we have two paths to follow in our comfort zone with the old patterns of thought so predictable despite all the pain and unhappiness that entails. Or get out of this comfort zone learning new attitudes and approaches to life that although we can generate uncertainty at the beginning but they are more than proven that give me happiness, success, fulfillment and freedom in life.
"Is it really necessary to change our attitude with time?" When one changes his attitude with time, it may be called flexibility. In the present, the change of attitude need not necessarily be spoused with the time because attitude is personal in nature.
Aren't collective attitudes possible? Jean Jacques Rousseau describes what he called "The General Will" in his Social Contract. Carl Jung mentioned a "collective consciousness" based on familiar archetypes By this he means an idea, or way of thinking that has been inherited from the experience of a nation or group and remains in the consciousness of affected individuals , influencing their common perceptions of the world.. Examples are racism, ethnocentrism and feminism.
A positive attitude is well worth developing, as it brings optimism and constructive changes into our lives, helping us to achieve sucess and happiness, and let us dream because we expect always the best to happen. Motivate ourselves and gives us more energy to accomplish our goals.
Yes, we have to adapt to changing circumstances. While some policies are solid and can stay in place, others go out of date and need modification. New methods may be required for satisfactory completion of tasks. We live in an intensely fast developing age of information technology and should revel in its capacity to achieve tasks we would have taken ages, if ever, to complete. Remember those computer cards and Algol? Many changes are country specific, or even for cultural acceptance. We should always keep an open mind.
Change adds inertia to life. Civilization progresses with change. Human experiences change with time. Nothing is static, so also the human mind. Attitude is the manifestation of perception, which develops in mind through emotions. Therefore, attitude must change with changing time, in order to make life smooth, peaceful and worth living.
