A drone that fights fires in a city, sounds very original and necessary. How can fire trucks fight fires when they can’t get to the fire because of traffic!

I agree with all discussion members. As an additional comment, I'd like to say that UAVs can be used for transportation of the firehose to different highs etc. In this case, we don't have problems with the transportation on the UAV board a big volume of water. But for UAVs need to take into account the turbulence of the air in areas of the fire. We can use UGVs and USVs as well. The practice of the use of UGVs was demonstrated in Chernobyl atomic station.

The vehicle is not autonomous yet, and thus pilots must be trained to maneuver in any condition of fire operation in buildings in big cities.

Yes, I think you saw one of my posts in this debate showing a photo of drones inside a fire station in China. He has been training for more than a year and now last week they received authorization to work in the city in real fires.

There are versions of these drones also without pilots operated from the ground that transport the hoses to the fire area, they seem very useful to me too!

Hello everyone, the DRON seems to me to be one more complementary tool to be able to develop work more efficiently, but of course, as a colleague already commented, it does not replace the decision-making, experience and adaptability of a firefighter.

From what I have seen of this particular model, I think it is useful in fire attacks on tall buildings from the outside, but any firefighter knows that the extinction must be finished from the inside, looking directly at the outbreaks

, this DRON seems too much bulky for an offensive attack from inside the building.

However, I see multiple applications such as industrial fires and especially in forest fires, for extinguishing outbreaks in rough terrain where access by land is difficult for fire engines.

In conclusion, to say that it is a very interesting tool to increase safety and complement the work of firefighters.

Firefighting drone is a new technology put into the market to compete with conventional approach of fighting fire with tanker vehicles from ground position. The drone as much as it has promising future, the determining factor on it's acceptability hangs around cost; initial cost, running/operation/maintenance cost plus it's useful live. Every new product must pass the test of Engineering Economy -i.e benefit-cost analysis for it to get a pass mark, Our bench mark is technology against economy.

Let us remember, fire fighting goes beyond fighting fire, it also involves search and rescue.

At what distance will the machine be most effective?

Is that distance a function of heat or source of fire?

In some fire sources with thick smoke, one may loose sight of the machine.

With current technologies, effective fire fighting still require men to be on ground.
