Arbuscular mycorrhizae usualy lives in deep dark in soil. The in vitro culture process bring them frecuently to light because we want to see them, look at them with microscope or just opening the door of the incubator where they are located for growing.
Did someone know if this light has en effect on the mycorhizae ? One could say »we never noticed any effect of light », but i’m looking for something stronger: Trial at light vs trial without light, or something like that. Thanks for the answer.
PS There are lot of studies on effect of light on infected plants, but i’m looking for the direct effect of the light on the fungi itself.

I have been associated with the production of AMF through invitro culture, we have not done the exact the experiments for which you look specific answer.
However I can share: that in growth room we keep lights on for many hours per day for observing the culture and root growth, where we have not notice any adverse effect. Also where ever we sub culture AMF. for entire day time (6-8 h) the plates are exposed to light, which doesn't hinder in germination of spores for next generation.

Louis, I confirm the answer of Kuldeep-in 2000/2001 I did a lot of studies growing G. intraradices in different types of polysaccharides in static and shaken cultures with many hours of observation under artificail light (but observing controls and variants in the same conditions). However, you are right-comparative experiments do not exist.
