Hi Ramin. Not all peripheral neuropathy are because of thiamine defficency. However it Is an important factor for neuropathy specially in alcoholic, elderly and patient of anorexia nervosa and in these patients neuropathy may respond to thiamine supplementation.. Hi Ramin,, vit B1 deficiency can cause wernicks encephalopathy, korsokof psychosis, beribery and peripheral neuropathy. Defficency is common in elderly, alcoholic, patient on furosemide, HIV etc.oral,intramuscular and intravenous preparation of thiamine is available. For wernicks encephalopathy intravenous or intramuscular injection of thiamine is given. Duration depends upon the response. For neuropathy oral thiamine tablets 10mg to 50mg per day is given. Non responder may require intramuscular injection. Benfothiamie a derivative of thiamine can be given 300mg to 600mg per day for treating neuropathy. Duration depends upon patient, S response.. However there is no standard recommendation of dosing in this respect... Thanks
