While statins affect primarily through inhibition of HMG CoA reductase inhibition, which i interpret is common to general cholesterol/lipid synthesis. So does it affect the aforementioned cholesterols.
Some data which I searched indicated beneficial effects of statin on HDLc and vitamin D but there is also mixed data on the subject.
Statin intolerance is common and myalgia and muscle aches and other side effects do seem to be quite prevalent among those taking statins.
So can someone elaborate the effects of statins on these good cholesterol types and steroids?

I can only speak to the issue of HDL-cholesterol. Statins do raise HDL-cholesterol, rosuvastatin being the most effective, followed by atorvastatin. Other statins are less effective, or may even lower HDL-cholesterol.

Statins are life-savers! The best way to regress plaque is to simultaneously lower LDL-cholesterol and raise HDL-cholesterol, and rosuvastatin does this best.
Yes I agree that they are life savers, but still was interested in understanding its effects on mentioned parameters. But I agree about life saving.

Statins do not affect the good cholesterol viz.
HDL-Cholesterol, vitamin D and.testosterone and hence termed as life savers vis-a-vis some ailments.
Infact Statins do affect and reduce the LDL-Cholesterol and in the process LDL/HDL ratio decrease which lead to LIFE SAVING.

So most statins do increase HDLc by reducing CETP activity by reducing cholesterol flow & this effect is independent of LDLc reductions.

Well I think that the link between statins and vitamin D is really interesting, though it's not quite clear. There are few articles, The authors of one study suggest that the statin rosuvastatin increases vitamin D, in the link below:

But still we need further researches to understand the full mechanism.

My understanding is that statins in the doses normally given would have no appreciable effect on Vitamin D and Testosterone.
Doing some work on vitamin D & satins....& lets see what comes up
