As we know commercial silicon photo diode has a low saturation intensity or saturation power, say, 10mW/cm^2 or 1mW etc. So if when a light pulse illuminates on the PD, even though the average power is less than saturation power, does it work on saturation state at the moment of time corresponding to pulse peak? Since the peak power could be extremely high for Q-switched and Mode-locked pulses. Is my guess correct??
