Hello everyone, I am new to journal paper submission. I submitted an abstract to a paper last month in reponse to a 'call for paper'. An editor came back to me a few days ago saying my abstract is closely related to their topic and will encourage a full submission of manuscript. But they also said there will be a peer review process at the end that will determine the publication.
It seems rather confusing if this means an acceptance or not, I was wondering how likely will my paper published in this case. Will peer review process reject papers very easily?
Using peer review definitely means that your paper has not been accepted, and will not be unless the reviewers recommend it. Almost all high quality journals rely on peer review. The ones that do not often demand a substantial payment for publication and may be "predatory."
At the end of the review, if you adhered with the guideline where you submitted and wrote as per their requirement, they will accept but if you did fail to do so that, I think, they will regret to inform you that your manuscript is not going to be accepted because of their own reason stating ..........
Jackso Yau .-. First, make sure the journal is a reputable journal and not predatory before you submit. Second, as mentioned by David L Morgan it is clear that the article has not been accepted. They just think that from your abstract it might be a good fit. But until they actually see and review your whole article, how would they know if it is appropriate and most importantly if it is of sufficient quality for their publication. I must disagree with Getasew Amogne Aynalem that simply writing by their guidelines means it is accepted, if that is true it would not be a journal that you could be proud of. That would be a predatory journal if that was true (no review and editing before acceptance). By the way - do not just check to see if it is predatory, find out what the charges are (submission, APC, etc) and if you get any discount in a special issue.
I agree with Robert John Wolff. I want to add: You should send the full submission so the editor has a clear idea that your contribution fits the journal. In fact, before you send the complete manuscript you should read and follow the editorial treatment (length, nomenclature, measurement units, type of fonts, etc). Later on, the reviewers, will evaluate the pertinence of your contribution to the selected journal.
As other colleagues have mentioned, your paper has not been accepted. The editor found your abstract relevant to the call; therefore s/he invited you to submit your paper. A decision about manuscript acceptance for publication will depend on the view of the editor and obviously the recommendations of the reviewers. As you prepare your manuscript, make sure that you read the requirements of the journal. It might also be helpful to browse through the journal and read some papers that have been published by the journal.

Asking for a full submission is protocol for most publishers. Check the criteria of the publisher and don't anticipate publication too readily.
Call for papers > abstract submission> Communication for full submission if the content is within the scope > full submission > editorial review > reject OR peer review > reject OR communication with the author for revisions as necessary > revised submission by author > accept OR communication with the author for any more revisions OR reject
The conventional flow. So it is clear that rejection is there at every possible stage. Nonetheless, good submissions making significant contributions in the corresponding fields are always encourages.
