In an experiment researchers have used human-hamster hybrid (AL) cells which contained a normal set of hamster chromosomes and one human chromosome 11. Several experiments with the cells were carried out, a couple at room temperature. Does this make any sense (temperature was not the parameter of interest). Thanks.
To perform experiments with cells derived from warm-blooded species like Hamster and Human does not sound resonable to me. Cultivation in the range of their normal core-body temperature (35-37 degrees Celsius) makes more sense to me, unless it is desired to slow down metabolic processes for some reason.
Like Erik, I do not understand the rationale for working with mammalian cells at 22 degrees C. I have not seen any other reports where mammalian cells were grown at room temperature.
