In the host range analysis, I saw that a temperate phage that I isolated had an effect against a different strain, but later (2 years) it did not affect that strain. What could be the explanation for this? Do you have any article suggestions on the subject?
I would not expect the host range of a phage to change over time. Do you know that the strain is identical, that the phage titer is still good, and that the strain has not become a lysogen for that phage (since it is a temperate phage).
The host range of phage will not change with time. However, there is a chance that the host you have used might have accumulated mutations with time in the receptor for your phage. If you have the same host and phage in your glycerol stock that you used 2 years ago, you can try to see if the phage is showing lysis.
