Ascorbic acid of both fresh and dried samples from UV Spectrophotometer were analyzed, and after plotting the calibration curve and applying the absorbance values, it was observed that higher absorbances were giving lower ascorbic acid content. Could this be an ideal situation?

Thanks @ Dr. Preety Rohilla for your interest in my question. 10 ml HPO3 solution added to 3g of dried samples, 1 mL of the filtrate was added to 9 mL of 0.05mM of 2,6-dichlorophenolindophenol, and absorbance taken in a UV spectrophotometer at 515 nm. The ascorbic acid content calculated from the calibration curve of L-ascorbic acid.
Obafemi Obajemihi I think this is the right situation because the mentioned dye shows higher absorbance in its oxidized form and when you add ascorbic acid it got reduced, becomes colorless, and showing lower absorbance value. As you increase the antioxidant (ascorbic acid) amount, the higher will be the reduction of dye and the lower will be the absorbance value. It is showing an inversely proportional relationship b/w ascorbic acid content and absorbance, like in the case of other antioxidant assays like DPPH & ABTS.
