Actually, I'm doing some work about the chitosan. Chitosan has been used in many fields, food, medicine, etc. It is also used in adjuvant for mucosal immunity with antigen. Anyone has similar work like that?
I've been working on a detoxified derivative of LPS, which is an adjuvant and a TLR4 ligand (see publication). We studied this molecule as a vaccine component for Alzheimer's disease treatment. So, your strategy to study chitosan will depends of your model (animal, cell lines, etc.). The first thing you should look at is to identify the receptor(s) of Chitosan, which are probably been already identify in the literature. You should also look at the inflammatory response. What are the Chitosan-induced molecules?
Although my work is not very much related to yours as I worked on physical properties of chitosan, you may find some useful information in my PhD thesis. Please have a look at http://studentsrepo.um.edu.my/3512/
