Does anyone know a "cheap" quantitative method to analyse the content of RuBisCO (Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphat-carboxylase/-oxygenase) in a dried leaf-powder?
I wonder whether you could just dissolve some of the powder in SDS-PAGE sample buffer, run it on a gel with some purified RuBisCO standards, and stain with Coomassie Blue. Since RuBisCO is so abundant, you may be able to quantify it by measuring the stain density of the large subunit band.
