Will this process result in any changes in the microstructure and chemical content of the steel due to the cutting temperature?
What is the maximum depth of cut possible?
Are there other methods for the same purpose?

Hey Fauzan Huzaifah , I have quite a bit of experience with Ion milling. What I always did was found a recipe and etched my sample for a bit and verified the rate with AFM step height. In theory you can cut as deep as you want if you let the process run for a long time. One thing to keep in mind is that for long recipes can get quite hot. If you're trying to cut 0.8mm is it possible to have that machined?
