I am working on aquatic toxicology. My work purely involves field study. Therefore, I want to know what this index actually is and how it can be calculated?
Looks like it takes into account water quality and hydrographic measurements, DO, pH, various metals, turbidity, and salinity.
Is this the index you're referring to? The paper contains a scale for interpretation, and methods of calculating it.
Wepener, et al. 1992. The development of an aquatic toxicity index as a tool in the operational management of water quality in the Olifants River (Kruger National Park). KOEDOE 35(2).
yes, i am referring of this index. but how these parameters are related so that it is obtained. I go through the Wepener et al. 1992, but is it just valid for kruger national park or can i take it as standard for all water bodies? Is this index will vary for every water body since it depents on water quality parameters.
