I have successfully done this before by adding PFA in small pellet form and agitating for around half an hour, then adding solid sodium hydroxide to clear the solution. However, I would like to try other forms of solid PFA like fine powder and cyrstalline forms and have not had the same results. I was wondering if there is anybody who has experience of dissolving solid PFA into acetone generally and if they could let me know a method that worked for them. Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks for your reply. I have no experience with dissolving PFA into solvents and despite searching for a number of days for a protocol online was not able to find any except for this one - clearly it was for other purposes and may be the reason it did not work! I would like to get a 4% PFA solution in acetone that will fix frozen cells at low temperatures (-90C). The solution must have no water in it, hence the reason for not using standard 4% solutions bought online. I have solid PFA in small pellet form, crystalline form and powder. Any help getting a 4% solution in acetone from these will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks.
