Hi all
I need to keep some samples at -35 to -25 degrees on an orbital shaker for a few hours or so. The only way I can think of doing this is to keep the samples a land shaker in a freezer. Does anybody happen to know if there is a make/model of orbital shaker thats small and portable? I’ve had a look on google etc but with this likely being a fairly niche item I thought I’d ask on here to see if anyone uses one and can point me in the right direction!

To my knowledge, no one makes a portable orbital shaker. However, there are orbital shakers made for CO2 incubators, and those could do the trick. For instance:

The controls and power are separate and connected to the shaking platform by a thin ribbon cable which won't break the seal on your refrigerator / freezer. They are also designed to be used in a wider range of temperatures. Even with these, the temperatures are below what the manufacturers specify. The Extreme Environment Shaker, the second one listed above, is designed for use down to -10°C, and that's the colder range of the two. It will probably still work, but may reduce the life of the shaker and would unfortunately void the warranty on it.
