during aging of my LDH material, Ca and Al ions dissolve with different proportions in aging process.
At pH 8, L/S 20 Ca dissolves more than Al.
However, at pH 12, L/S 20 Al dissolved more.
And what is the effect of L/S on aging?

Probably it is an effect of the intrinsic properties of Ca2+ and Al3+. This is amphoteric and dissolves as aluminate at very high pH values.

I guess M stands for the divalent cation and N for the trivalent one in the brucite-like layers, and X for the interlayer anion
Well, ... Maybe the author of the sentence (Maryam Rasouli) should answer to this question, but I suggest it means the "liquid/solid" ratio, in other words, the concentrtion of the starting salts when you prepare your sample.
