History of genetics refers to Lamarckism for acquired characteristics inheritance which published in about 1809, and later to Darwin's theory of acquired traits inheritance ( Pangenesis ) in 1869, Darwin's pangenesis theory was thought that parents could pass on traits acquired in their lifetime. The basic concept of inheritance of acquired characters was finally widely rejected in the early 20th century.
Now, Epigenetic study the transfer of non-genetic information (Environmental effects ) across generations through its effect on gene expression by methylation and acetylation of genetic material (Methyl and acetyl are epigenetic tags- chemicals that act as “switches “ that determine gene expression without changing the underlying genetic code).
