Without doubt, RG has been a place of refuge, an archive, a study room for researchers where you learn every day. To be candid, do you also see it a place of healthy competition for scores?
RG is a platform for exchange of views, ideas, research work and develop appreciation for research work of various researchers from all over the world across various disciplines. It is leading to lot of encouragement for us .
Personally, I don't see it as a place for competition. Rather, it is a wonderful academic platform that connects researchers from around the world and brings us the most recent academic publications.
No, not at all, RG is an excellent platform mostly for younger and promising researchers to learn from experts in their area of expertise. It also an avenue to create better visibility for their publications and increase possible citation count.
It is also an archiving platform for research publications for all researchers.
It is never a platform to compete for presence or merit/score, it is a learning platform for all.
No, I do not see RG as a place to compete for scores. Does this RG score help you anyway? No, then why to think about it. It is merely a statistics that shows your presence in terms of interaction with other colleagues.
have their own RG score and this score indicates the activity of the researchers in this platform. so all the participants in this site are in a competition based on the activity level. This is a smart way to encourage us to share our works and knowledges.
I don't because it is a great platform to connect with scholars in all fields and from across the globe. Many RG members with high scores continue to contribute by answering questions and seeking answer to questions of their own.
From my point of view, it is a place for the acquaintance, exchange of views and experiences with specialists. I see that It's fine also in scientific competition among researchers if its goal is to develop the self and increase knowledge and the dissemination.
I see RG Platform to interact with International Scholars and to Share my Educational views. To learn more by reading daily on RG and on Google To Improve My Ideas and to refine them more. Regards
No. In my point of view research gate is a place for sharing information and also experience. Also it is a place to connect with sophisticated people in different majors
Mohamed, I accept that competition is ubiquitous and can be healthy, but my work is different to many others on RG as it grapples with perceived wisdom/ideas and therefore is by its nature a niche production. (Maybe not, I'm simply assuming). Dealing with ideas is not the same as more technical papers. Competing with others therefore would not be reasonable. I would anyway likely as not lose. RG gives me alternate ideas, insight into more technical issues, and the chance to converse with like types. Not, as they say, to be dissed.
scores are assessed regarding other scores and their ranks. so, a place for competition as well as exchanging views ,nd boosting relationships and making synergies to solve academic problems.
Certainly the RG score isn't the only reason people flock at this social network. Online communication between all ages and domains researchers help to feel a unity of this important loosely defined society in the world.
As far as the RG score is concerned, it is a sort of an inspiration factor allowing researchers to roughly assess members numerous activities by themselves. On the other hand, would we be happy if it is not done by researchers? The algorithms and methodology should be kept improving. However, there is a healthy seed in doing it.
NO! RG is a great platform of intelligent scholars who are dedicated to the promotion of Science through sharing of ideas and publications, research collaborations and soliciting for multiple views and suggestions on research projects.
Competing for scores could be one of the reasons on this fantastic platform, but exchanging views and opinions about a lot of issues and research work concerning different fields of knowledge is the top priority for me. RG helped us maintain friendly ties with people from all corners of the world. Curently, we are making a widespread net of researchers who come from different educational systems and educational institutions worldwide.
Thanks Dr Mohanad Hazim, Dr Luciano da F. Costa, Dr Dickson Adom, Dr Hazim Al Dilaimy, Dr Farangis Shahidzade, Dr Hom Nath Chalise, Dr Vladimir Mirkovic, Dr Yasser Jaamour and Dr Ijaz Ahmad for your contributions.
No. There's no room for competition. We don't work for same employer, our disciplines are not exactly same. It is not used for assessment, rather the publications. We simply share knowledge, and give solutions where necessary. That's what makes it so beautiful.
Researchers compete only to create a reel positive change in this world. Everyone strives by his own means to contribute to advance the science and technology. All the rest is meaningless.
I think the members should avoid asking the questions that they already know the answers or give useless answers (e.g. I agree with X; that's a very good question or answer, etc) to just raise their RG score. Not professional!
Good question.....I'm sure it does take place, but in the end that's an empty thing to do,as you'll always know,(even if no-one else works it out)that you did something solely to try and raise your score.
If the score reflects an actual impression of the usefulness of your contributions, then it's fine, and may serve to indicate that to all,but as a competition point...no.
I can see RG as a Tremendous Research Platform where Research Scholars And Research Students meet Chat Discusses on Single Platform. Well, in my opinion it gives motivation to participate in discussions and get more knowledge. It also helps in engaging oneself in research work and be more active. So I would say yes it has to be a place to compete for scores.
I see RG as a forum to share, communicate, interact, debate and especially enriching me hugely with plethora of dimensions into a specific field as well as in diverse subject areas.
It is the oxygen and, I am sure, part of life for many esteemed RG nembers including me.
I don't see ResearchGate as a place to compete for scores, rather it is a platform for sharing knowledge, views, ideas, experience, publications etc. with researchers/scientists across the globe.
