The regional citrate anticoagulation is the standard of CRRT in my institution. It is regional and safer than systemic heparin anticoagulation, prolongs filter lifespan and finally is recommended by many professional associations including KDIGO.
Yes, we have 10%CaCl2 protocol managed by nurses. 250 ml bottle lasts one day (median) and costs 3 Eur. All our patients on RRT run in RCA since 1999, our 16 year experience is now supported by KDIGO and others.
