While other science fields or academic disciplines, like psychology, opened up to receive hard science or positivist influences in their paradigm, physics has remained "airtight".

Although its doubtful if soft-science (less data, more qualitative inference) would work in physics, where the hypothesis of external objective reality is strong (Tegmark, '07) there has never been a systematic exoloration of paradigm extension to further the aims of the science.
