I think most of the universities are self dependent financially. Their sources from the consultancy and industrial sectors relations. so, they are not private in the private meaning, but they have their own budget including the student fees. Best regards.

I different countries it is not the same varies.

It depends on the higher education policy of the country in question, in my case I prefer the public university for reason of stability

For poor people Government universities are good, however private universities are better managed

Private progressive university. 

I prefer public sector. Job security, better salary are some of the reasons. In india, as per Govt.'s new policy, research centers and guide-ships are encouraged only in govt. or aided institutions.

بناء على مضمون سؤالك، ليس المطلوب تقييم الجامعة حينما تكون خاصة وحينما تكون حكومية، هكذا فهمت السؤال... وعلى هذا الأساس، أقول؛ 

إن أية جامعة تحقق للأكاديمي صفته العلمية وتؤمن احتياجاته المهنية والبحثية هي جامعة مفضلة عنده

أما أن تتدخل أسباب أخرى في التفضيل، كأن تكون الراتب، الشهري، الاستقرار المادي....الخ، فهذا سبب عارض وليس أصيلا. نعم لتلك الأسباب العارضة أثر كبير في ضبط بوصلة التفضيل، ولكنه ضبط اضطراري وليس اختياريا.

For practical reasons Emad , I prefer private University . Let me tell a blunt truth ...

Government is Government  (at every level !!!!!!!!!!) No exception , I have seen people wanting to steal money in the name of "Cancer research funding " . Only job they do is cell transfection  and try on mice !!!

In private , they want more students so they will do it as business and business have standards  (in terms of Labs and papers) . E.g Stanford or Harvard

I prefer a private institution. I work at a private institution, and it is extremely supportive of my research. I never received that level of support at a public institution.

There is a narrow view of private education compared to public education. This view comes from developing countries and their educational systems that are not developed. Most of the distinguished universities in developed countries are private universities. The problem is not in private education but in the bodies responsible for this education

It depends.... on the country, on the university, on the scientific area, on the expectations of the academic etc. Each job opportunity should be evaluated in its circumstances. I am working at a public university and had my postdoctoral research at a privat university in the US. They both have many advantages and disadvantages...

In our country, government backed institutes are provided with huge funds for different purposes, hence one can carry out better research in those institutes, but then again it depends on how efficiently the funds are utilized be it in private or government universities.

Goverment University has more facilities such as the research requirements, therefore the academic staff prefer the govermental universities

Our aim is to equalize the standard o the private and government universities. Their output will work in the society so we have to take of all. Best regards

Well, for me, I'm the best of the government university. I think it has more scientific rigor than the civil universities.

We have to put our target that the private and government universities should be with the same standard to have a good standard of graduates. Best regards
