Do you add sodium pyruvate into the DMEM or 1640 medium?

Do you add the sodium pyruvate into the DMEM or 1640 meduim which is bought from company? Someone told me the sodium pyruvate will be degraded 50% two weeks. So for my medium to last more than two weeks, should I add 200mM sodium pyruvate?
