Your question is quite difficult to understand. What do you mean with "respiratory" lactate dehydrogenase? LDH is an enzyme generally involved in fermentation (regeneration of NAD from NADH under anaerobic conditions). I assume that you are talking about a lactate dehydrogenase that is involved in such a process rather than a LDH required for utilisation of lactate as a carbon source?!

In this respect, neither Aspergillus species nor Candida species produce significant amounts of this enzyme. Aspergilli tend to be overflow metabolism negative (with the exception of some fungi such as A. niger that produces citric acid or A. terreus that produces itaconic acid) and transport pyruvate into mitochondria for conversion into actyl-CoA via the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. For my knowledge, significant lactate production from Aspergillus wild type strains has not been described yet. However, there are genetically modified A. niger strains that express lactate dehydrogenases from Rhizopus oryzae and, thus, are suitable as lactate producers.

Candida and several other yeasts tend to form ethanol some glycerol and acetate rather than lactate. This is due to a highly active pyruvate decarboxylase that decarboxylates pyruvate to acetaldehyde, which is the precursor for either ethanol (reduction) or acetate (oxidation). Therefore, lactate dehydrogenase is not required.
