Do I need to seek permission from Bride et al (2013) to use the unpublished, DSM-5 revised version of the STSS?

A permission for using scales is usual, even if there are no necessities, in some cases these permissions can be sought by institutions, funding agencies etc. A formal brief e-mail usually should do the job. A brief note about your study and sample may be informative for them to understand your context. Authors can provide you valuable materials or recommendations, such as reference to a more up-to-date or convenient version aside the permission. Wish you success.
