Dear all,
I'm trying to reduce the computational time for a model which contains circular shell element and beam element (with pipe profile) in the top ( see the attached pics). Do I need to do anything for beam to be symmetrical and half of its original size or it is okay to run the model with the original profile of the beam and symmetrical shell part?
Your help would be highly appreciated
You should probably define just half of the section into the section properties tab if you are using Abaqus as I belive.

Well
for toy project no matter if you use the wole structure. It does not take alot of time.
Moreover, I think that you cannot use symmetry because your model is not symetry
