Thanks a lot for the question. I think so. Because, in our education we try to follow exemplars in teach them to our students. In several books of any kind of management, the most authors adivse us to follow exemplars. These authors are influenced by their exemplars.

Generally speaking, the perennial philosophy is a philosophical perspective especially in the domain of religion whereby the religious ideals reflect a universal truth from which all esoteric and exoteric types of knowledge and doctrine are formed. Within such perspectivization, exemplars are regarded as symbols actualizing the ethical and moral existence . These guiding forces have always existed throughout history and have influenced perennially significant human values . The views held by exemplars have indubitably informed humanity’ about the principles that are important to human happiness and salvation. Therefore, as you say, exemplars have a great bearing on our moral reasoning.

2.In Arabic Story : Sultan Haru al Rashid was not giving advise to a child to eat lesser amount of sugar even after repeated request from a poor mother for six months. Afterwards he gave the advice. He explained that he himself took six months to bring down the quantity of sugar in his daily meals after trying for six months. He gave advice after attaining the qualification only.

It is a reason which help us to carry out our activities of our life . Reasoning to our mind come from our observation which helps us to take a reshape of our thinking . It is in this line we come across quite good contribution of our highly learned personalities & apart from t his we also come across well many books of well known author .
This help us a guiding factor in our observation for which we even sometime take a shape of our life . It is in this case exemplars play a significant role in our moral reasoning .
This is my personal opinion
Moral reasoning involves the series of thoughts that interact around moral values and ethical principles, which are nuanced with previous experiences and current feelings and emotions, are the basis for decision making and behavior related to these thoughts and feelings.
Furthermore, in order to convince others of our convictions, apart from preaching moral and ethical virtues, values and principles, it is convenient to demonstrate it with facts (behaviors) congruent to such statements.
I think for children, exemplars would play a significant role in their moral reasoning as they are still being formed. As such, they would tend to imitate what others do and if these examples are "bad" then they would fall prey to following and consequences thereof. If the latter lessons are not learnt, these children grow into adults who become not very good exemplars for others.

Yes it most likely does but it does depend on what you mean by exemplar.
One thing that you could mean by exemplar is do we employ prototypes in our thinking about moral cases. So for example given a certain thought experiment that includes multiple concepts do we have different ideas of the concepts at play. Take for example you say that a child is drowning in a pool and you can save them at some little cost to yourself. It is likely that people will visualize a specific type of child(male or female, white or person of color, young or older) that helps to motivate the conclusion that is drawn from the thought experiment. You might think(as I do) actor-observer differences in trolley cases can be accounted for by prototype theory. This can be further supported by the idea that visualization also plays a role in our intuitions on thought experiments. We have some evidence that given trolley cases having the Footbridge case (where you push the fat man) before the classic Switch case (where you can pull the switch) participants are likely to moderate their permissibility rating in the Switch case in comparison to a condition where people get only Switch or Switch first. A possible explanation for these results rely on visualization of the vignette. So people who get footbridge first might visualize the switch case more vividly and thus moderate their judgments.
Another thing you could mean is more generally in moral reasoning do we employ moral exemplars. That is people who act morally. I think that for certain we do. There is after all good reason to think that people need role models that they can identify with in order to learn morals more effectively. This drives a lot of political debate today about under-represenation in Hollywood. Depending on how exemplars play a role in our social learning capacities and how much social learning impacts our moral reasoning we should expect large effects by moral exemplars in this sense.
Yes. We learn primarily by watching and imitating the people around us. As we are fundamentally social beings, our behaviours are shaped by our social environment. Aristotle pointed out the significance of mimesis in human development. More recently, scholars have reflected on the significance of mimesis in culture and understanding (Auerbach, Ricoeur, etc...). To the extent that we are aware of ourselves and how we affect/are affected by our environment (identifying problems, solving problems, improving our lives/situations), that is, more or less adequate moral reasoning, we seek exemplars. In a culture in decline, such exemplars/models are harder to find, so moral reasoning becomes even more problematic. In a healthy culture, moral exemplars are more numerous, and the probabilities of everyone else's moral development is much higher. Good people, good society. Good society, good people. Bad society, ....
