When running a 384 well plate on the CFX 384, I won't necessarily be filling every single well with some kind of sample or control. Do I need to fill the empty wells with water or something or can they be left empty? Will leaving them empty affect the capabilities of the machine to heat the plate appropriately and uniformly?
Whenever we load the samples in 384 well plate on the CFX 384, we never end up using all the wells with the samples and thus you can use the same plate (leftover wells) for your another experiment. Basically, you can keep re-using the same plate until you finish using each well and nothing well happen. You do not need to fill the empty wells with anything. We use CFX 384 everyday in the lab..nothing will happen if you have wells empty.
Please make sure that there is a chance of spill out of your PCR product to next wells when you take of the plate seal very fast, be gentle with it. All the best.
Thanks Toral. I had thought it would be fine but just wasn't confident so it's good to know my experiments aren't potentially invalidated because of that.
