We've got an immortalised cell line that was being DNA profiled to be certified as a valid cell line for a culture bank. The profile results showed that this had the profile of a breast carcinoma cell line. Hence we supposed a contamination.

Therefore we took all our cell lines for DNA profiling to avoid further problems. One of them, a trophoblast cell line showed homologies with a pancreatic carcinoma line. When I checked the pancreatic cells profile it had exactly the same profile reported for the trophoblasts.

That makes me doubt from validity of the DNA profile of the first cells.

Has anyone had a similar experience?
