We are using the APSlifetech extraction kit to extract DNA from whole blood samples kept at -70°C for a year and half. The problems is that we are not getting DNA, and if we have it is of Low concentration.
Can someone help? What can be the Problems?
I am using Qiagen DNA extraction kit to extract DNA from blood samples, some aged 2-3 years and it worked for me. I am not sure for the APSlifetech extraction kit. If you are following the protocol strictly, could it be 2 possible reasons;
1) The DNA storage has problem and the DNA has degraded
2) The blood samples itself have low or no DNA before storage
Hi, it is possible if, after the sample collection, the blood was not handled properly or stored properly and caused the nucleated cells like white blood cells and its nuclei acid content to degrade. But this is very less likely and personally I think it should be something happened during your extraction process..
