The elastic modulus of a single glass fiber results 75 GPa from a tensile test, should be the modulus of a bundle (parallel glass fibers) comparable with the single one?
yarn as a structure comprising of many no of fibers, if load applied not all the fibers were broken at the moment of
yarn breakage. Thats why modulus will be different from single fibre. Also we can observed that the Young’s modulus of the yarn depends on the assembled fiber orientation angle. When the angle is 0° (loading along fiber direction where all fibres are parallel to each other), the stiffness of the yarn reaches its maximum value.
