Diagnosis of canine visceral leishmaniasis from whole blood

Good morning gentlemen.

I have a critical point to discuss about the use of whole blood for the diagnosis of Visceral Canine leishmaniasis. Was the use of extraction kits with high recovery of genetic material added to realtime PCR diagnosis (Sybergreen or TAQMAN) a feasible method for diagnosing animals from whole blood?

If they can collaborate with pros and cons I appreciate it.
