Depot formation of lipophilic drug in the subcutaneous fat tissue

Does lipophilic drug form depot in the adipose fat tissue? This might be due to the affinity of the drug to the lipophilic fat tissue. This might delay the absorption of the drug in systemic circulation.

Does anyone came across this phenomenon? How to enhance drug absorption from subcutaneous site in such as cases

maybe it needs to optimize the formulation. occlusive transdermal bases such as ointment or patches that increase dermal hydration may be useful. microneedle arrays are the novel transdermal drug delivery system can be used for increase systemic absorption of the drug. Franz-cell is an in vitro test for optimization study.
