There are three ways to apply the prestress in the FE package (e.g. Abaqus, ANSYS APDL)
Hence, could anyone comment or discuss which is better and why ? Are there any references?
Other than ABAQUS and ANSYS FE packages, ATENA software is also capable of accounting for the pre-stress condition. Please visit www.cervenka.cz.

it depend on applications , If you are doing civil based then better go for ANSYS, if biological applications then maybe Abaqus...but ANSYS has more options than Abaqus.Regards,
