A mixture of chalcone ( 0.0005 mol ), thiosemicarbazide ( 0.001) and NaOH (0.001 mol) in ethanol (15ml) was refluxed for an appropriate time ( TLC monitoring). Cool, filtrate, wash with water then ethanol, dry , recrystallize with ethanol.
