I want to know how we get carbazole derivatives with substituents at 2 and 7 position?
Is it done directly on carbazole moeity or substitution on other compound than by cyclization or any other synthetic way leads to carbazole derivative with substitution at 2 or 7 position or 2,7-disubstituted carbazole (indirect method)
It is done indirectly by choosing the right starting material and synthesizing carbazole. It will just add two additional steps in overall synthetic procedure.

You might look at the Graebe-Ulmann reaction. It would be an indirect method and would depend on the availability of the requisite o-aminodiphenylamines. This all depends on the substituents you wish to incorporate.
