Aloha, it´s not a big problem, but im curious, why it is, like it is. The "empty" lane contains a negativ control, same volume, as the other lanes. PCR products, 2 % agarose gel, TAE buffer. Ran at ~ 140 V max. 300 mA. Big chamber.
Why is it curved? Is there something i could do to avoid this phenomenon?

The only time I had this "problem" was because my electrode was slightly bent. I assume than the distance between them change slightly the migrations properties of DNA in the gel.
Don't know if it will be the answer for you.
I have also had this effect and in my case it resulted from pouring the agarose gel while it was too hot into a home made gel plate. The middle of the plate bent upwards and the gel was thinner at the centre and thicker at the edges. Since then I let the gel cool for longer and it has not happened again
I saw that some have already mentioned here their experiences, you can also check the voltage applied to the gel and is the gel completely immersed in electrophoresis buffer.
