During several years I have been doing research on a weaving technique known in Mexico as curve weaving. Al researchers concerned with this technique were certain that it was used only in México. A few years ago I had the opportunity to Visit the New York Metropolitan Museum where I came across a textile from Ghana known as kente. This specimen exhibited what in Mexico is known as curve weaving. I have tried to contact the African Collections curator of the MET with no success. Now that I know of the existence of these materials alsewhere I want to know the technicalities of its production. I wasnt sucessful at the British Museum either to meet the curator of African collections, and besides some bibliographical references, and the MET caption there seems to be very little information. I hope somone outhere can help me either facilitating a contact with the MET curator, or bibliography, or other collections where they have these specimens. I plan to go to San Francisco in September, perhaps someone in Berkeley or Oakland can help. I wrote an article about this, which is here in my bibliography, and I sent a book for publication about curve weaving, and I am preparing another one on a very specific sample. Thanks.
