Some colleges in which students have been allowed to dorm have started testing waste water for traces of COVID-19. While this is serving as a marker for possible spread, how viable is the virus found in the waste water? Is this liken more to nasal swabs testing for acute exposure (and possible carrier status) or antibody testing (and possible past exposure and convalescence)?
