Hello, my name is Donna, and I am gathering information of gifted students in the education platform. Any information, experience are articles that you might for me to view would be greatly appreciate. ~ Thank you
There is not much done to kids who are gifted in the mainstream education. However some are assessed if the parents take initiative and they still follow the same routine at schools.
As an urban school superintendent, I have had direct experience starting or expending opportunities for development of giftedness in several large urban school disrtircts including a school for the gifted in Hartford, Connecticut. I would refer you to articles written by Joseph Renzulli and Sally Reiss, both of the University of Connecticut, Neag School of Education, particularly concerning the "School-Wide Enrichment Model". If I can be helpful to you in your research, feel free to contact me directly - [email protected]
I recommend you Google Joseph Renzulli or Sally Reise (University of Connecticut Center for Gifted Education) for some of the most definitive research on gifted education.
Their School-wide Enrichment Model (SEM) is considered the gold standard for developing giftedness.
