Well for me the question is more 'how could we go about demonstrating this sort of proposition and then using its potential'.

For example, as an artist I study the phenomenon of vision. It's actually very simple to establish that the principle structure to vision is a field, nothing to do with the projection of optics. We must be generating this field as biological systems. Why do it? Because it afforded us an implicit form of spatial awareness that is as close as damn it a manifestation of the 'present'. Spatial awareness occurs to us without thinking about it. It forms the basis of our holistic spatial awareness.

Any holistic system of awareness is going to require correlated firing. As is its generation, as is its reception. Any transference of such a 'signals' from the environment to the interface/retina is going to rely on light's coherence/phase characteristics as distinct from the photon and the resulting intensity function we know a lot about.

Do we have two visual pathways. Yes. 

Do these have a 'what' and 'where' characterisation. Yes

Can we detect the independent formations (implicit and explicit) operating within phenomenal field. Yes

Can we describe them. Yes

Can we illustrate this. Yes (Vision-Space - presentations attached)

Is it worth considering testing the visual system with environmentally conditioned light as opposed to artificial stimuli?

Is it worth looking to correlated firing and noise propagation within the retina and dorsal pathway for evidence of a 'covert' processing system based on correlated firing?

Is it worth considering the field structure as being the basis of multi-sense perceptual structure? 

Is it work looking at the old brain structures for this sensory correlation?

By definition such a proposition is going to require new approaches so we can expect a not very enthusiastic response from those who are bought into the existing paradigm which rules this out. Who's instrumentation was developed within and for the existing paradigm.

Any proposition along these lines is going to have to be very well posed for anyone to take any notice and undertake experimentation that's likely to provide evidence acceptable to science that it is indeed meaningless to take us out of an act of observation even when the current science clearly indicates that this is indeed the case!

                    There is a pretty extensive literature on synchrony of the neural sort and what it might possibly mean. Synchronous firing is thought to underlie phenomena such as "binding". When I try to understand your question, I am unable to do so as the main question you pose in the title does not necessarily connect to the one you pose in the body of the message. If synchronous firing is observed in multiple perceptual or cognitive processes, then singling it out as being the hallmark of the "aha" moment of "getting" a meaningful coincidence makes little sense.

Jungian synchronicity is an idea...not a fact. Some people perceive meaningful coincidences and others are more sceptical, and correctly so.

The brain looks for patterns and attributes meaning to things and events that have neither. Now an interesting question would be...what patterns of synchronous firing does one observe in individuals who do perceive such coincidences and those who do not and what can this tell us (if anything at all) about the brain?

Conscious/Unconscious - I am not even sure I know a good working definition of consciousness/"conscious" thought, to answer that.

I asked that question because Jim Al-Khalili and Johnjoe MacFadden. mentioned possible quantum activities on the level of the ion- gates and the action potential that regulates the firing of a neuron.

Also because I think that the 'light' of the 'enlightenment' could have something to do with the firing of neurons all together and consequently generate a higher consciousness.

A higher consciousness could establish synchronicities which are not ideas but manifestations from the implicate order. It is as the manifest of an quantum entanglement into the classic world.

They can be seen as a bridge between the quantum and the classic.

Serendipity(for me , an intriguyng possible example of synchronicity(?)) is a curious thing in human relationships !

May be I can ask it more directly: should there be a connection between quantum biology and synchronicity?

If the coherence keeps on, on the macroscopic level or if there is a continual feedback nano-macro, in certain special circumstances, if the order at the unconscious level is well structured, theoretically the order out of order can be taken in consideration in concurrence with the Newtonian mechanics.

Understanding music, which after all is one huge synchronicity, is only possible if you listen to the best. Here observation is not possible anymore, you become part of it, you enter the gate and you are in it.

If someone of my city, Ghent, could read that and believe my words...then I could organise a concert. 

I wait and see what can be done.

 When I  posed that question I had a certain feeling about the correlation of the microscopic firing of the neurons and the  meaningful coincidences that happen in the macroscopic world. Now I see more clear the picture.

Of course we must leave the causal thinking on this level of consciousness and seeing the entanglements and the web in which our thoughts are strangled.

There is never a beginning of thinking, so we start just at one point and follow a way, many ways are crossing or over-crossing, we see only a part of it, but if we are surprised and observe something new, that is the moment to start the journey into the unknown zone between the conscious and the unconscious. It is only when we are aware of something that asks our attention that we see it.

When we see it means that our neurons are firing in a synchronous way, if we don’t see it this means that our neurons are firing in an asynchronous way.

The synchronous firing indicates that the ion channels of the nerves are working coherent, on the quantum level. These coherence in different parts of the brains is pulled together by the electromagnetic field of the brain.

We must notice that the ions that pass the ion channels do it at a rate of 100.000.000 per second and very secure. A potassium channel allows only one sodium ion to pass the channel for every 10.000 potassium ions.

The speed of the created action potentials sweeps our thoughts around the brain.

The ions that pass the channels are delocalized and behave as coherent waves. In this way the binding problem is solved; it is by the a-locality that the different parts of the brains are connected.

To make the story short: the more neurons that fire in a synchronous way as the consequence of the ions that pass the gates in a coherent way, the more consciousness there is, the more insight, the more coherent the thoughts develop, and consequently express themselves in the output of publication, art, invention…

So what we call synchronicity, as an a-causal binding of events, can be seen as an information unit that pass from the unconscious level to the conscious level and that has a meaning so that the nerves are synchronous firing and we can put this event in a wider context. What consequently is making new connection between neurons.

Physics stops here with the brain, my idea goes further and it is very logic to think that as a consequence of the a-locality of the ions that pass the ion-gates the electromagnetic field of one brain can influence the field of another brain, if the waves entangle in a coherent way. In my point of view the way is open for intuition, empathy and telepathy what in the physics is not yet accepted.

I have full confidence that the future will contradict the meaning of AL-Khalili: We should stress that invoking ideas such as brain EM fields,, or indeed quantum coherent ion channels, in order to explain consciousness does not in any way provide support for so-called ‘paranormal phenomena’ such as telepathy, since both concepts are capable of influencing neural processes going on inside a single brain, -they do not allow communication between different brains.

The last word about consciousness is not yet spoken and the language of art is also not yet very well understood and explored.

Everything depends on the spiked neurons, synchronized by rhythms occurring in distinct bands in different regions of the brain. 

Here the local to global connection is important for organizing spatially distributed neuronal groups.

Neurons work together in different cortical areas, they are tuned into specific patterns of electrical activity at a specific frequency.

Art has an impact on the coordinated assembly of neuron activity. Art works at the selectivity level of the mechanism via rhythmic oscillatory phase coupling.

2 brains as 2 neurons that are sensitive to the same frequencies of spatial coupling pattern will exhibit dependent activity no matter how far they are spatially and will be part of the same assembly.

Music is a rhythmic stimulation in several areas at once.

As synchronicity is a bridge between the time and the timeless, there is no system to understand it, the only source is experience. Reading the previous text we know about the mechanism of the rhythmic oscillatory phase coupling. This happens unconsciously but can be recognized in the dream as happened today.

In the dream I have seen a burning cigarette  in a strange environment something chaotic, not with a person but on the ground.

In the morning I thought it over and couldn't understand the meaning. 

At 11 o’clock, I listened to the radio and heard that there were a lot of forest fires in Italy, also in Tuscany where my husband is at the moment.

As I had already a preview of 2 earthquakes this must be seen as a synchronicity, but how it can explained is another question. The burning cigarette had caused the fire.

A kind of interpretation can be that we think we have dreamed but that we just have a vision at the moment, while we are awake, a synchronous firing of the neurons in rhythm of many other persons who have seen these fires.

It is an interesting domain to think about.
