As inertia is a term of the tittle of the movie ‘The train of inertia’, I wonder what it can signify. It may have a psychological significance  derived from physics and mathematics.

It’s a very old concept that goes back to Aristotle. Copernicus, Galilei and Newton gave it a clear definition. Einstein integrated it in the relativistic theory, so that inertia also applies to energy as well as matter. How can this be understood?

Einstein redefined the concept of inertia and inertia mass. Inertia mass is normally taken to be invariant mass, but mass that has accelerated to speeds close to the speed of light has its relativistic mass increased.

How can this be interpreted? What happens in the field of quantum mechanics?

I think it’s a very interesting concept.
