I'm going to analyse some DNA sequence (Electropherogram) and I need to know about reliable software for this. I used a free-demo for DNAman 3 years ago. What do you recommend for this, right now?
AutoAssembler is a Macintosh software package from PE-Applied Bio-systems, is good and convenient. If you have ABI seq.ing machine they supply it on your request.
Otherwise DNADynamo, you have to purchase it..
Phred, Phrap, Consed, you should have some knowledge of DOS commands then you can easily operate. I believe you should have institutional license to use this.
We have a sequencing core at my University that has a licence with SoftGenetics for their GeneMarker software. I have used it quite often to analyze electropherogram data. Here's a link with more details: http://www.softgenetics.com/GeneMarker.html
